My other favorite Florence bookshop, the Paperback Exchange, specializes in, yes, paperbacks!! For those who prefer softcovers to hardcovers (though we can hopefully all agree both are infinitely preferable to e-readers), there’s much to love here. #bookshop #bookshopsofinstagram #bookstagram #firenze @papexbookshop
This incredibly cool bookshop in Florence, Italy, is the very definition of hip! There are a variety of cool, interesting books on offer in both Italian and English that you’d be hard pressed to find anywhere else. There’s also an amazing cafe that serves as something of an attraction in itself (and that features Italy’s best juice). The guy at the counter is super insightful and comments on the books you bring up to the register as if he’s read them all — and he probably has! Sandwich this divine bookshop in between your visit to the Boboli Gardens and Uffizi Gallery and you just might come away from the city with this as the highlight! #bookshop #bookshopsofinstagram #bookstagram #firenze @todomodolibri
This bookshop in Rome’s Trastevere district sells ONLY African literature, most of it in Italian, but there is an English section. How cool to stumble upon a bookshop entirely devoted to literature from a continent that has, historically, been mostly overlooked in the literary world. I love that this place exists. @libreriagriot #bookshop #bookshopsofinstagram #bookstagram
Reason no. 472 I love Rome: this bookshop. Since I first visited it, way back in 2007 now, Rome has been my favorite city. It now has my favorite bookshop. Amici — this place is AMAZING. And I don’t say that lightly. From the moment I stepped inside, I knew this one was something special. “Aha! So THIS is what love is!” Yes, it was just like that. Stacks of stupendous, incredible books everywhere! So many worlds at your fingertips! So many potential lovers! The girl at the counter has the absolute best taste in the world too, she told me I had to read Italo Calvino’s sublime “Cosmicomics” which is actually one of my top 3 favorite books of all time. Regazzi, if you have yet not read Italo Calvino, read Italo Calvino! Her excellent taste confirmed, I had to add another one of her recommendations to my pile. But really, if you have not yet visited Otherwise Bookshop in Rome, go now! You won’t regret it 😊📚🇮🇹 @otherwisebookshop #bookshop #bookshopsofinstagram #bookstagram #rome
Visiting Venice in summer might not have been the best idea, but fortunately “cool” bookshops like this one exist allowing to step in off the baking cobblestone streets. But if you come in for respite from the sun, you linger for the enlightenment offered by the books on offer, many of which, yes, are in English. #bookshop #bookshopsofinstagram #bookstagram #venice
The Polo Urban bookshop in Venice, Italy may be small, but it’s stocked full of wonderful books on Venice — and why not? Read where you are! I picked up a @monocle_travel guidebook on the city here, as well as a couple of others (of course). Get away from the tourist hordes and buy a book! #bookshops #bookshopsofinstagram #bookstagram
